FIS Masters 2018-2019

I have attached for your attention a copy of the calendar for the forthcoming season. It may still be subject to changes, but we will keep you posted if there are any changes to dates/locations

(please keep an eye out on our Facebook page which will have the most recent updates here: www.facebook.com/britishmastersskiteam)

British Masters Champs 2019 (FMC)

You may also be aware that Kandahar have sadly stepped down from organising the British FMC races for the future, but we at the BMSC have stepped in and will be organising the event from next season onwards, so it is exciting times for us as a club and also Masters racing in general!

The dates have been scheduled for 1-3 Feb 2019 and we will keep you posted with details once they have all been finalised.

British Masters Champs; Chatel 16-18 March 2018

** FAO British Masters Racers re British Masters Champs:

I hope you are all well and those of you in the UK aren't having too much bother with the snow!

Just following on from my message yesterday, I know that a number of you have been having issues in contacting Kandahar to confirm your entries for the British Masters Ski Championships which are due to take place in Chatel from 16-18 March.

Therefore, if you are planning to go please could you email Judy Reid with what races you are planning to attend at judyski@hotmail.co.uk (or send her a private message on Facebook) and she will compile a list and make sure that your entries are sent onto the Chief of Race Richard Ellis.

Training will also be available from the Tuesday before the races on the Race Piste and there will be a 50% discount on all lift passes for competitors on the training days before the event. For anyone aged 75 or over, lift passes are free. If you are planning to attend, then Judy will also make sure that your names are passed onto Richard Ellis so that you can obtain your discounted lift passes.

This will be the 30th anniversary event and although this years event will not be part of the FIS Masters Cup series, it is still looking to be a fantastic event with a Super-G on Fri 16 March, Slalom on Sat 17 March with a Masters Party/Prizegiving and GS on Sunday.

A full copy of the Programme can be found below.

Kind regards,

Ali

FIS Masters Cup- Goetschen results

posted Jan 22, 2018, 2:37 PM by Alison Hills

Just another quick update following the weekend's races in Goetschen.

Goetschen

I attended the event along with a number of our members and it was a fantastic set of races! There were 2 GS races on  the Saturday; a morning race and an evening race by floodlight.

The courses were well set with near-on perfect snow conditions and the evening race was so much fun! Unfortunately Sunday's slalom was cancelled due to a heavy snowfall overnight (over 50cm  I understand!) which did make things rather interesting for trying to dig cars out...

Anyway, we had some fantastic results which were as follows:

RACE  1:
Ladies: Ali Hills- C2 (2nd), Karen Coles- C2 (3rd), Judy Reid- C6 (4th)
A Men: James Soar- A2 (5th), Murat Imamzade- A2 (7th), Mikael Collin- A4 (18th)
B Men: Malcolm Naylor- B10 (9th)

RACE 2:
Ladies: Ali Hills- C2 (3rd), Karen Coles- C2 (2nd), Judy Reid- C6 (4th)
A Men: James Soar- A2 (3rd), Murat  Imamzade- A2 (5th), Mikael Collin- A4 (19th)
B Men: Malcolm Naylor- B10 (9th)

Well done to everyone and particularly to James who achieved a podium position in his first ever weekend of masters racing!

I have added some photos of the weekend to our Facebook page so please do check them out here...

Next events

The next events up on the calendar are Zagreb (Jan 26-28), Megeve (2-4Feb) and Cortina (9-11 Feb)

Unfortunately I wont be able to attend any more race events this season, as I will be concentrating the reason of  my season on training. I will be attending a training camp with Ben Reid Performance Coaching in Austria over Easter as well as a few Landgraaf camps over the summer. I would highly recommend his training;  a number of our members have already trained with him, so if you are interested then please do contact him at: ben@benreidperformancecoaching.com

I would however like to keep everyone up to date with events as they happen, so if you would like any photos etc adding onto Facebook or our Website from the various events, then please do feel free to email them across to me.

Good luck to everyone who is competing in Zagreb this weekend and I will keep you posted with results!

FIS Masters Cup News- Cortina

Dear Masters,

Please see attached the Invitation for the FMC Events that will take place in Cortina D'Ampézzo (ITA) 9th to 11th February, 2018.

As they expect to receive a large number of participants, the OC was kind enough to anticipate the preparation of two separate courses also for SG and GS according to the Safety Recommendation approved by the Sub-Committee for Masters Racing in its last meeting in Zuerich during the October FIS Fall Meetings.
